Producer History:
Penfolds was founded in 1844 and is one of Australia’s most iconic wine houses. Legendary winemaker Max Schubert created the famous Grange in the 1950s–60s and later developed the Bin range. First made in 1960, Bin 389 earned the nickname “Baby Grange” because some components are matured in barrels previously used for Grange, combining Cabernet structure with Shiraz richness.

Wine Introduction:
Penfolds Bin 389 2024 is a classic Cabernet Sauvignon–Shiraz blend (approximately 51–53% Cabernet) sourced from multiple South Australian regions including McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and Barossa Valley. Matured for around 12 months in American oak hogsheads, it delivers the generous mid-palate and excellent cellaring potential that define the Bin 389 style – a true Australian icon.

Tasting Notes:
Nosing: Blackberry, mulberry and blackcurrant with cigar box, cedar, cocoa and sweet baking spice.
Palate: Rich and layered with dark cherry, plum, black chocolate and fine yet firm tannins; generous mid-palate.
Finish: Long and balanced with lingering dark fruit and oak spice.
