The collaborative product "Bon × Tokyo Revengers" has created an innovative blend of sake and manga elements. This sake, named "Bon," is beloved for its fresh fruity aroma and rich grape flavor, making it not just a bottle of sake but also a deep dive into cultural exploration.
The "Bon" sake brand, established in 1860 by Kato Yoshihei Shop in Fukui Prefecture, has long been regarded as a national treasure of Japan, often served at state banquets to international dignitaries, and holds a supreme reputation in the Japanese sake industry. "Tokyo Revengers," a popular manga, features characters and organization names that relate to Fukui Prefecture's sake, such as the protagonist "Takemichi Hanagaki" and the antagonist organization "Black Dragons," naturally bridging a connection for this collaboration.
This collaborative sake uses a new variety of rice called "Sakahomare" cultivated in Fukui Prefecture, brewed into a Junmai Daiginjo with a 50% rice polishing ratio, emphasizing the significance of this partnership. The sake features a fresh fruity aroma with a delightful grape flavor, and its profound taste is distinctly clear, making it an excellent match for the rich seafood of the Echizen area.
The packaging design of "Bon" is also meaningful, depicting the main female character and leader of "Bon," "Kawaki Senju," who is the only female fighter in the manga. The launch of this sake not only showcases the fusion of Japanese culture and manga culture but also represents a highly interesting and innovative endeavor.
