Amrut Spectrum 004 is an innovative Indian single malt whisky from Amrut Distilleries in Bangalore, part of the acclaimed Spectrum series that explores complex flavor profiles through unique cask combinations. This non-age-statement expression, bottled at 50% ABV, begins with maturation in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in a custom stave-built barrel incorporating American oak (level three char), lightly toasted French oak, ex-Oloroso sherry staves, and ex-Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry staves. Benefiting from Bangalore's tropical climate at 3,000 feet elevation—where maturation occurs approximately 3.5 times faster than in Scotland—the whisky develops the depth of a 12- to 15-year-old Scotch in just 4.5 years. Crafted from 100% Indian six-row barley, it exhibits a deep honey color with aromas of dried fruits, Christmas pudding, coconut cream, vanilla, sticky toffee, and subtle sandalwood. On the palate, it delivers a jammy, syrupy richness with mild spices, vanilla pudding, creamy sultanas, and a hint of restrained phenol, leading to a refreshing minty finish with lingering sweetness.
