Distillery History:Ben Nevis was founded in 1825 in Highland Fort William, one of Scotland’s highest distilleries. Renowned for its sherry cask maturation, it produces rich, fruity and spicy whiskies. Cask #2198 is a single cask release highlighting the distillery’s sherry character after long maturation.

Whisky Introduction:The Ben Nevis 1996 Cask #2198 is a single cask matured in a sherry butt and bottled at 46.1% natural strength without chill-filtration. Long sherry ageing brings intense dried fruit, dark chocolate and spice with the distillery’s classic malty sweetness – a rich Highland sherry single malt.

Tasting Notes:Nosing: Rich sherry with raisins, figs, dark chocolate, toasted almonds and spice.Palate: Full and oily – stewed black fruits, dark chocolate, cinnamon, toffee and oak with sweet-spicy balance.Finish: Long, warm and lingering with dried fruit, chocolate, spice and soft oak.
