This 2003 Chateau Duhart-Milon is a model of the Pauillac appellation. It has a deep ruby red colour and wonderful aromas of fresh fruit and black fruit. The wine is robust, with a fine colour, and quite pronounced sappiness. The wine has a lovely balance and its concentration suggests it will open and evolve. The tannins are fine and supple, while also giving grip. The finish has good length. The wine is aged in oak barrels, which are all made at the Domaine’s cooperage. The length of time the wine spends in barrels varies, depending on the vintage, between 10 to 18 months, during which the wines are periodically racked and fined with egg whites.
