Château Lynch-Bages, a Fifth Growth estate in Pauillac, Bordeaux, traces its origins to the 18th century under Irish immigrant Thomas Lynch, whose family owned the property. Classified in 1855, it gained renown for robust wines. Acquired by the Cazes family in 1939, it has been modernized, including a new winery in 2020. Spanning 100 hectares, the estate emphasizes Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blends, producing powerful, age-worthy reds under Jean-Charles Cazes' leadership.
The 2021 Château Lynch-Bages is a robust Bordeaux red blend, showing density and freshness in a challenging vintage.
Nosing: Intense blackcurrant, elderberry, crème de cassis, plums, sweet berries, with hints of mint, spices, praline, and loamy soil.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with muscular dark fruits like cassis and cherry, chocolaty notes, cedar, roasted chestnut, firm grainy tannins, and balanced acidity.
Finish: Long and minerally, lingering with subtle dryness and satisfying depth.
