Glenburgie 18 Year is a distinguished single malt whisky from the Speyside region of Scotland, produced by the Glenburgie Distillery, founded in 1810 and renowned for its distinctive apple-like flavor, earning it the moniker "Speyside’s Apple Orchard." This whisky is part of Ballantine’s Single Malt Tasting Series, launched in 2019, with an age statement of 18 years, an alcohol content of 40%, and a 700ml bottle size, presenting a rich, aromatic, and well-balanced profile. Its production involves large pot stills, slow distillation techniques, upward-angled lyne arms, and a low cut point to ensure a pure, ripe apple sweetness.

In terms of flavor profile, Glenburgie 18 Year offers a soft yet complex character: the nose reveals delicate red apple, red berries, and honeyed sweetness; the palate is rich with sweet orange, blackcurrant, and warm woody notes; the finish is smooth, full-bodied, and lingering. Some reviews also highlight strawberry fruitiness, coffee, and cocoa in a medium-bodied expression, with a medium-to-long finish, making it ideal for sipping neat or over ice.

The Glenburgie Distillery, tracing its history back to 1810, is located in Speyside and is known for producing elegant, fruit-driven whiskies. Now owned by Pernod Ricard’s Chivas Brothers, it began releasing single malt expressions under Ballantine’s in 2017, including 12 Year, 15 Year, and 18 Year variants, to showcase its unique charm.

Regarding its relationship with Ballantine’s, Glenburgie has been a cornerstone of Ballantine’s blended whisky for 200 years, forming the heart of its blend and contributing its signature apple fruitiness to create a full, balanced, classic flavor. In 2017, Ballantine’s decided to bottle and highlight its three core single malts, including Glenburgie, to emphasize their critical role in the blend. In 2025, the Glenburgie series received a refreshed packaging design, further strengthening its market presence.
