Glendronach Distillery was established in 1826 by James Allardice in Forgue, Aberdeenshire, Scotland's Highland region. Acquired by William Teacher & Sons in 1960, it was mothballed from 1996 to 2002, modernized in 2005 by switching to steam-heated stills as Scotland's last. Purchased by Benriach Company in 2008, reviving the core range, and by Brown-Forman in 2016. This expression was distilled on January 15, 1993, bottled in November 2016, from single Oloroso sherry butt #41, yielding 587 bottles, exclusively for Taiwan's D.C. & T.D.M.
This Glendronach 1993 23 Year Old Cask 41 is a Highland single malt whisky, distilled on January 15, 1993, and bottled in November 2016, aged for 23 years in a single Oloroso sherry butt (cask #41). At 59.1% ABV, it is non-chill filtered with natural color, yielding 587 bottles, highly rare and exclusive to Taiwan market. It features a deep amber color; the nose is dominated by sherry influences with raisins, dark chocolate, ripe fruits, and subtle oak. The palate is full and smooth, layering dark chocolate, coffee, dried fruits, cinnamon, and oak depth with balanced tannins. The finish is relatively short, carrying sweet fruits and warm aftertaste, exemplifying extended sherry maturation. Average Whiskybase rating 90.51/100.
