Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Port Ellen is a limited edition blended Scotch whisky, representing the second edition in the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare series, produced by the Diageo Group. This series emphasizes the utilization of rare stock whiskies from closed distilleries—referred to as "ghost" distilleries—to highlight unique flavors and historical significance. The Port Ellen distillery, situated on Scotland's Isle of Islay, ceased operations in 1983; its remaining inventory is exceptionally valuable and frequently coveted by collectors. This whisky centers on Port Ellen's smoky peated profile, integrated with other rare malt and grain whiskies to deliver balanced and intricate layers, released in 2018 with limited global availability.

Product Specifications
This whisky features an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 43.8% and employs a non-chill filtration process to retain its original flavors. The composition is led by Port Ellen, complemented by grain whiskies from Caledonian and Carsebridge, along with other rare malts such as Cambus, Auchtertool, Glenkinchie, Clynelish, and Royal Lochnagar. Its distinctive characteristics include smoky lemon and leather notes, rendering it ideal for collection or enjoyment during special occasions.
Tasting Notes
Color: Warm golden hue with amber highlights, exhibiting fresh vitality.
Aroma: Bright and vibrant, dominated by base notes of white grapes, honeydew melon, citrus, and light toffee, accompanied by fresh apples, figs, orange sherry, vanilla, and subtle smoky undertones. Certain reviews highlight aromas of mint, cardamom, and fruit liqueur, revealing rich fruit layers.
Palate: Velvety smooth with a slight oiliness, presenting salted caramel, sweet smoke, and spices upon entry, alongside fresh and candied fruit flavors. Honey, chocolate, light peat, crystallized pineapple, coconut, plums, and figs emerge progressively, forming a multi-layered balance. The texture is gentle, suitable for dilution with water to unveil additional nuances.
