Description
Kumeu River Rays Road Chardonnay 2024 is an outstanding single-vineyard white wine produced by Kumeu River Wines in New Zealand, renowned for its exceptional quality and unique terroir. This Chardonnay originates from the Rays Road Vineyard, located on a limestone hillside at an elevation of 180 meters in the Hawkes Bay region, with a north-facing slope, employing dry farming to ensure high grape quality. The vineyard was acquired by Kumeu River in 2017, and since then, the quality has significantly improved each year.

The winemaking process adheres to traditional Burgundian techniques, including hand-harvesting, whole-bunch pressing, indigenous yeast fermentation, 100% fermentation in old French oak barrels, full malolactic fermentation, and 11 months of maturation in barrels. This results in a wine with an alcohol content of 12.8%, typically presented in a 750ml bottle.

 The aromas are rich in peach flavors, retaining the flinty and lively mineral characteristics of limestone; the palate is intense and concentrated, with increased density, a long and dry finish, and it is recommended to age in the bottle to further develop complexity. Additional flavors include citrus, crisp lemon acidity, the flinty sensation of limestone, as well as subtle spices and creamy texture. 

This Chardonnay pairs well with seafood, pasta, chicken, and risotto dishes, enhancing the dining experience.
