Aged in refill and rejuvenated casks, this 14-year-old, the oldest Roseisle release, harmonizes fruit and malt. Nosing bursts with fresh fruit—crunchy apple, peach, apricot, pineapple, green banana, vanilla sponge, caramelised apple tart, puff pastry, and vanilla ice cream, with subtle mint and herbal undertones. The palate is creamy-smooth, sweet with honeyed malt, charred oak, pear, and intensifying vanilla, blending beer-like notes and soft warmth. It's medium-bodied, with vibrant fruit and subtle char. The finish is medium-long, lingering with mint, herbs, and faint honey, fading cleanly. This graceful expression highlights Roseisle's versatile, modern profile.
Roseisle Distillery, near Elgin in Speyside, was built by Diageo in 2009 as Scotland's first major new malt distillery in 30 years. Costing £40 million, it was designed for 10 million liters annually to supply blends like Johnnie Walker. Its modern setup includes 14 stills and bio-energy plants for sustainability, recycling by-products. Opened amid controversy over industry expansion, it began production in 2010. The name derives from nearby Roseisle Forest. In 2023, its first single malt debuted, followed by use in Johnnie Walker Black Ruby in 2024. As a "super distillery," it represents Diageo's investment in efficiency and eco-innovation. Its short history marks a new era in Scotch, blending cutting-edge tech with traditional methods.
