Description

Saburomaru The Sun 48% is a harmonious blend whisky that carries the prestige of the 2023 WWA World's Best Blended Whisky. Distillery manager Inagaki primarily uses malt whisky distilled in 2019 with the Zemon still and matured in Japanese Mizunara oak and sherry casks at Saburomaru. This is complemented by over 12-year-old grain whisky purchased from Scotland and matured in wine casks from Nagano Prefecture at the Saburomaru cellar in Japan, resulting in the latest 2023 version.

On the nose, you can detect sweet aromas of vanilla and banana, followed by notes of hay, nuts, and flavors of peat and smoke. Upon tasting, the smokiness and sweet cream flavors unfold, followed by a spicy sensation. The finish is characterized by a subtle bitterness with balanced peat smoke. The Zemon still creates a warm peaty body, and the maturation in Mizunara casks results in a stunning performance.
