Springbank Distillery was founded in 1828 in Campbeltown, Scotland, on the site of Archibald Mitchell's illicit still. The Mitchell family, who migrated from the lowlands in the 1660s, were early maltsters in the area. It became Campbeltown's 14th licensed distillery. In 1837, brothers John and William Mitchell acquired ownership, forming J&A Mitchell & Co., which still runs it today. Amid the decline of Campbeltown's once-thriving whisky industry, Springbank endures as one of three surviving distilleries. It uniquely handles all production in-house—from floor malting to bottling—using traditional methods. The distillery produces three styles: lightly peated Springbank, heavily peated Longrow, and unpeated Hazelburn.
Springbank 12 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 28 is a limited edition bottled at 55.5% ABV, matured entirely in ex-bourbon casks. Non-chill filtered with natural color, it highlights the distillery's signature without dilution. Specially, this batch emphasizes bourbon cask influence for enhanced sweetness and oily texture, capturing Springbank's maritime and lightly peated essence in full strength.
