Winery history:Maison Marchand-Tawse was founded in Burgundy in 2010-2011 by Canadians Pascal Marchand and Moray Tawse. Pascal had led Domaine Comte Armand from 1985 and later worked at Domaine de la Vougeraie. The house focuses on organic and biodynamic farming, with both estate and négociant wines, emphasising precise terroir expression.
Wine notes:This is the 2023 Bourgogne Chardonnay, 100% Chardonnay at 13%. Fruit comes mainly from the Côte de Beaune (about 75%, including Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses) and the Yonne, on limestone soils, with vines averaging about 35 years. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in used oak on the lees without stirring, followed by about 15 months of aging, for a fresh floral and mineral style.
Tasting notes:Nosing: lime, white flowers and green apple, with light mineral notes.Palate: crisp and medium-bodied, with green apple and nectarine, bright acidity and fine oak.Finish: mineral and fresh fruit, clean and layered.
