Distillery History:Akkeshi Distillery, located in Akkeshi, Hokkaido, began distillation in 2016 under Kenten Jitsugyo. It aims for 100% Hokkaido whisky and is known for its coastal climate and the 24 Solar Terms series, which captures seasonal changes through successive limited releases.

Whisky Introduction:Akkeshi Single Malt “Shunbun” is the final chapter of the 24 Solar Terms series, bottled at 55%. Made with a generous proportion of Hokkaido-grown malt and matured mainly in Hokkaido Mizunara casks (primarily unpeated), it expresses the distillery’s terroir with soft sakura and citrus notes – a harmonious spring release.

Tasting Notes:Nosing: Soft sakura mochi, white peach compote, lemon soda, marmalade toast, brown sugar castella, ripe orange and hassaku.Palate: Refreshing – orange sherbet, lemon icing cookies, ramune jelly and the crisp sensation of ginger-syrup sparkling water.Finish: Lingering bitterness of lemon and lime peel, high-cacao dark chocolate, ending with gentle wasanbon sweetness.
