Auchentoshan Sherry Cask Finish - 70cl/40%

Distillery History:
Auchentoshan is in Dalmuir in the Lowlands, founded in 1823 and one of the few Scottish single malts to triple-distil throughout. The cut is narrow and copper contact is long, so the spirit is light and smooth. In 1941 a Clyde raid destroyed a warehouse. Now under Suntory Global Spirits. Calum Fraser is master blender. The core line includes American Oak, the 12 Double Cask, the 14 Sherry Cask and Three Wood.

Whisky Introduction:
A permanent NAS from April 2026: bourbon maturation, then a Spanish Oloroso finish, not full-term sherry. Triple distillation is the technical point. 40%. Versus the 12 Double Cask’s parallel bourbon and Oloroso, this is a finish and dried fruit sits further forward; versus the 14, which adds Pedro Ximénez, there is no PX and no age; versus Three Wood’s Oloroso-then-PX double finish, the layers are fewer. Built as an entry sherry malt for Europe and Asia.

Tasting Notes:
Nosing: Maraschino cherry, treacle cake, aniseed and cinnamon.
Palate: Dark stone fruit, caramel, raisin, fig and date.
Finish: Long, with light wood at the end.
