Bruichladdich Old Skool 10 Year Old - 70cl/50%

Distillery history:Bruichladdich Distillery was founded on Islay in 1881, closed in the 1990s and reopened in 2001. It is known for transparent provenance, local barley and experimental cask use, with the Octomore, Port Charlotte and Bruichladdich ranges produced side by side.

Whisky notes:This is Bruichladdich Old Skool 10 Year Old, released to mark 25 years since the distillery’s 2001 reopening. Distilled from 100% Islay-grown barley sourced from 14 local farms within a nine-mile radius. Matured primarily in first-fill bourbon casks (95%) with a small parcel of first-fill Sauternes (5%). Bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered and with no added colour.

Tasting notes:Nosing: ripe stone fruits such as apricot, nectarine and red plum, with vanilla custard and barley sugar.Palate: soft barley sugar, stewed pear and apple, creamy coconut and vanilla custard.Finish: apricot jam and toasted coconut, with fresh grapefruit and lemon zest.
