Château Rieussec, situated in Fargues de Langon, Sauternes, Bordeaux, traces its origins to the 18th century. It was classified as a Premier Cru Classé in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification for its exceptional sweet wines. Acquired by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in 1984, the estate covers 93 hectares, predominantly Sémillon (90%), with Sauvignon Blanc (7%) and Muscadelle (3%). Renowned for botrytized grapes affected by noble rot, the winery focuses on meticulous hand-harvesting in multiple passes and aging in oak barrels to produce complex, long-lived Sauternes.
Nosing: Subtle minerality with hot stone, dry grass; fruity notes of candied grapefruit zest, honey, apricot, white fruit, and bitter orange.Palate: Medium to full-bodied, fresh and lively; balanced sweetness and acidity with citrus, honey, spice, stone fruits, and nutty hints.Finish: Medium length with refreshing bitterness and lingering honeyed sweetness.
