Description

Château Haut-Maillet is a small family-owned estate in Pomerol, Bordeaux, located in the north-east of the appellation. Known for traditional Merlot-dominant wines, its history dates back to the mid-20th century. It uses hand-harvesting on clay-gravel soils with minimal intervention to preserve pure fruit and elegant balance, producing limited classic Pomerol wines.

2016 is an outstanding Bordeaux vintage. This wine is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc from prime Pomerol plots. Approx. 14% ABV, structured yet elegant, ideal for aging 5-15 years, showing vibrant fruit now with strong future potential.

Nosing: Cassis, tart raspberries, plums, tobacco, spice box, dried herbs and graphite, delicately inviting.Palate: Concentrated black fruits, tight tannins with juicy richness, balanced acidity and chocolate depth, medium to full body.Finish: Long and clean, lingering tobacco and boysenberry, classic Bordeaux style.
