Distillery History:Clynelish Distillery was founded in 1819 near Brora in the northern Highlands by the Marquess of Stafford. A new distillery was built in 1967, after which the original became Brora (closed 1983, revived 2021). Now owned by Diageo, Clynelish is renowned for its distinctive waxy texture, coastal minerality and elegant Highland character.
Whisky Introduction:Clynelish 14 Year Old is the flagship core expression, bottled at 46%. Matured primarily in ex-bourbon casks, it showcases the distillery’s signature waxy mouthfeel, honeyed sweetness and light coastal salinity. Fresh yet complex with citrus, floral and subtle smoke notes, it is a cult classic among Highland single malts.
Tasting Notes:Nosing: Beeswax, honey, green apple, citrus and faint maritime notes.Palate: Creamy and waxy with orange, honey, peach, light pepper and salt.Finish: Medium-long and dry with tea, mineral and gentle spice.
