Domaine Cordier Bourgogne Blanc Jean de la Vigne 2023 - 75cl

Domaine Cordier (also known as Domaine Christophe Cordier or Famille Cordier) is located in the village of Fuissé in Burgundy’s Mâconnais. Founded by Roger Cordier in the 1930s with just 5 hectares, it was expanded significantly when Christophe Cordier took over in 1987. He stopped selling grapes to négociants, focused on estate bottlings, and grew the domaine to around 32 hectares across over 100 parcels. Since 2018, the estate has converted to organic and biodynamic farming (Demeter certification from 2024 harvest), often using horses for plowing to preserve soil health. It is regarded as one of the top producers in the Mâconnais, emphasizing pure terroir expression.

Domaine Cordier Bourgogne Blanc Jean de la Vigne 2023 is a regional-level white made from Chardonnay sourced from a single high-elevation vineyard (rocky schist soils in Leynes, just above the Premier Cru hill in Fuissé). Named after Christophe’s son Jean, the vines are around 20+ years old with low yields and hand-harvesting. Fermented with wild yeast and aged in large neutral oak, it delivers surprising complexity and minerality far beyond typical Bourgogne Blanc.

Tasting Notes

Nosing: White peach, pear, green apple and citrus fruit with white floral and subtle butter notes—fresh and layered.

Palate: Rounded yet balanced body with peach, orange zest and Mediterranean herb flavors; evident dusty minerality, silky texture and vibrant acidity providing tension.

Finish: Long, clean and persistent with mineral and fruit echoes; energetic and finely structured. A lively, complex Bourgogne Blanc suited for drinking now or short aging.
