Estate History:
Domaine de la Garrelière, near Richelieu in Touraine, is run by Pascale and François Plouzeau and farmed organically (Ecocert) and biodynamically (Biodyvin). Le Blanc de la Mariée—“the bride’s white”—takes its name from their wedding: guests each planted a vine. That 3-hectare plot of 20–25-year-old Sauvignon Blanc is the source of this fresh, unoaked white.
Wine Introduction:
The 2022 is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from sandy soils over flinty clay and limestone. Grapes are pressed gently for about three hours, fermented with native yeasts in tank and aged six months on fine lees, with no oak. Compared with flagship Cendrillon (older vines, partial old-barrel ageing), this cuvée is more direct and summery—lime, blackcurrant leaf and mineral. A low-intervention introduction to Garrelière and Touraine Sauvignon.
Tasting Notes:
Nosing: Lime, blackcurrant leaf, grass and gooseberry—classic Loire freshness.
Palate: Dry and brightly acidic, with crisp fruit and mineral tension.
Finish: Fresh and medium-long, with floral lift and a saline close.
