Distillery History:GlenAllachie was founded in 1967 in Speyside. Acquired in 2017 by a consortium led by Master Distiller Billy Walker (ex-BenRiach, Glendronach), it is now one of the few independently owned Speyside distilleries. Walker’s wood philosophy focuses on premium casks to maximise flavour, with all bottlings non-chill filtered and natural colour.

Whisky Introduction:The GlenAllachie 8 Year Old is the youngest in the core range, matured in a marriage of PX and Oloroso sherry puncheons, virgin oak casks and red wine barriques. Bottled at 46%, it delivers bold sherry influence with modern fruit and spice – a vibrant, approachable Speyside single malt showcasing the distillery’s character and cask innovation.

Tasting Notes:Nosing: Heather honey, butterscotch and cinnamon, followed by ginger, toasted almonds and mocha.Palate: Lashings of treacle, dried sultanas and butterscotch with cinnamon, peppermint and honeycomb.Finish: Long, warm and sweet with lingering roasted nuts, chocolate and gentle spice.
