Distillery History:
Glengoyne sits at Dumgoyne on the southern Highland edge, founded in 1833 and now under Ian Macleod. Barley is air-dried only—never peated—and the stills are among Scotland’s slowest. Sherry wood is the house signature; PX casks are commissioned years ahead. PluX was a four-year Taiwan project; 2026 closes it with a 12-year drinking strength, this batch-strength bottling, and 2005 single cask #986.
Whisky Introduction:
Twelve years in first-fill PX, Batch 4 2026 bottled at 58.3%—the stronger twin of the series’ c. 42.3% finale. The distillery points to brownie and dark-roast coffee, caramel and smoked oak, then cinnamon and ginger. PX is sweeter and stickier than Oloroso. Non-chill-filtered, natural colour, as usual at cask strength. The intensity chapter of the PluX close, not a global core bottle.
Tasting Notes:
Nosing: Brownie, black coffee, caramel and dark dried fruit.
Palate: Full, sweet and hot—syrup, cocoa and smoked oak.
Finish: Medium-long, cinnamon, ginger and PX sweetness.
