Established in 1843, the distillery emphasizes innovative cask maturation techniques, and The Quinta Ruban exemplifies this characteristic through its unique finishing process. It draws inspiration from the adventurous travels of Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie's Director of Whisky Creation, evoking a journey into a dark and delectable forest of flavors.

The maturation process begins with an initial stage in ex-bourbon casks, typically for about 10 years, to develop soft fruity notes, followed by a finishing period of approximately 4 years in ruby port casks sourced from Portugal's Quinta estates.
