After 15 years of maturation in American white-oak, ex-bourbon casks, around 30% of the whisky is transferred into Spanish Oloroso sherry casks for three years. When both parts have reached 18 years, they are blended together. Oloroso casks provide an incredible degree of vibrancy.

Distillery history:Glenmorangie sits in Tain, in the Scotland Highlands. In 1843 William Matheson converted the brewery at Morangie Farm into a distillery. It is known for Scotland’s tallest pot stills, producing a delicate floral and fruity Highland style. Macdonald & Muir acquired it in 1918; it became part of LVMH in 2004, with whisky creation led by Dr Bill Lumsden.
Whisky notes:The Infinita is Glenmorangie’s official 18-year-old single malt, formerly Extremely Rare 18, renamed and repackaged around 2024. It spends about 15 years in American oak Bourbon casks, after which roughly 30% is transferred to Oloroso Sherry casks for three more years before the portions are reunited and bottled at 43%. Designed by Dr Bill Lumsden, it balances the distillery’s floral and fruity character with a gentle Sherry influence.
Tasting notes:
Nosing: honey, caramelised orange, jasmine and lemon blossom, then vanilla, fig and soft oak.
Palate: silky and lightly oily, with honey, coconut, fig, date and nuts, plus gentle spice and citrus.
Finish: long, with dried fruit and Oloroso notes fading slowly, warm and harmonious.
