Distillery History:Hakushu Distillery was established by Suntory in 1973 deep in the forests of the Southern Japanese Alps at the foot of Mt. Kaikomagatake. Known for its pure mountain water and cool climate, the distillery produces fresh, lightly peated single malts with distinctive herbal and green notes, often called the “distillery in the forest.”

Whisky Introduction:Hakushu 12 Year Old is a core-range single malt matured for a minimum of 12 years in a combination of American oak and sherry casks. It blends peated and unpeated malt whiskies to create a crisp, gently smoky profile with fresh fruit and herbal character – a classic expression of Hakushu’s unique forest terroir.

Tasting Notes:Nosing: Basil, pine needle and green apple with honey and soft smoke.Palate: Sweet pear, mint and kiwi with fresh fruit and subtle smoke.Finish: Green tea and delicate smoke, clean and lingering.
