Distillery History:Hakushu Distillery was established by Suntory in 1973 deep in the forests of the Southern Japanese Alps at the foot of Mt. Kaikomagatake. Known for its pure mountain water and cool climate, it produces fresh, lightly peated single malts with distinctive herbal and green notes. The 18 Year Old is a key high-age expression in the range.

Whisky Introduction:Hakushu 18 Year Old is a core-range single malt matured for a minimum of 18 years in a variety of casks. It offers greater depth and complexity than the 12 Year Old while retaining Hakushu’s signature fresh fruit, herbal character and gentle smoke – an elegant expression of the forest distillery’s unique style.

Tasting Notes:Nosing: Ripe pear, dried mint, oregano and a hint of smoke.Palate: Jasmine, mango, quince and menthol with fresh fruit and herbal notes.Finish: Long, pleasantly smoked with a hint of bitterness.
