Distillery History:Hakushu Distillery was founded by Suntory in 1973 deep in the forests of the Southern Japanese Alps. Known for its pure mountain water and cool climate, it produces fresh, lightly peated single malts with distinctive herbal character. The early Sherry Cask series showcased experimental full-sherry maturation.

Whisky Introduction:Hakushu Sherry Cask 2014 is a limited edition released in February 2014, with only 3,000 bottles produced. Fully matured in selected sherry casks and bottled at 48% without chill-filtration, it offers an intense, rich sherry-driven profile that contrasts with Hakushu’s usual fresh style – a rare and sought-after early experimental release.

Tasting Notes:Nosing: Bold sherry, nougat, sweet caramel, marzipan and liquorice with balsamic notes.Palate: Medium-bodied and dry with dominant sherry, abundant wood spice, prunes and raisins.Finish: Long and very dry with tobacco, leather, sherry and dark chocolate.
