Winery history:Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini is based in Gevrey-Chambertin. Polish immigrant Jean Heresztyn arrived in France in the 1930s and formally established the domaine in 1959. It is now run by his granddaughter Florence Heresztyn-Mazzini and her husband Simon Mazzini (from Champagne). The estate focuses on organic and biodynamic practices, mainly producing Pinot Noir with a small amount of white wine.
Wine notes:This is the 2024 Bourgogne Aligoté Queue de Hareng, 100% Aligoté. The fruit comes from a tiny 6-are parcel in Brochon on a northeast-facing hillside at 410 metres, planted in 1950, on Middle Jurassic crinoidal limestone. It is whole-bunch pressed without crushing, with no sulphiting before settling, and aged 12 months. Production is only about 300 bottles, showing fresh citrus and white flowers.
Tasting notes:Nosing: fresh citrus juice and white flowers, with light mineral notes.Palate: lively and dynamic, bright acidity, with green apple and lemon.Finish: clean and mineral, fresh with tension and a light saline edge.
