Estate History:
Château Léoube sits on the Var coast in Provence, near Cap Bénat, run by the Bamford family and farmed organically. The estate is known for rosé; white and red are side lines. Winemaking is linked to Romain Ott of neighbouring Domaines Ott. Love by Léoube is the entry range. Fruit can be bought from local growers. It is meant to drink sooner and more easily than the estate Léoube bottlings.
Wine Introduction:
2023 Love by Léoube Blanc is a white, not the rosé of the same name. The blend is about half Rolle and half Ugni Blanc. Rolle is Vermentino, giving herbs and citrus; Ugni Blanc adds pear and snap. Mediterranean climate, limestone and schist. No new-oak butter style. Versus estate Léoube Blanc, this is the entry cuvée, with more direct fruit. For bouillabaisse, salade niçoise and aperitif.
Tasting Notes:
Nosing: Peach, pear, almond and dill.
Palate: Dry, medium body, citrus and herbs.
Finish: Fresh, lightly saline.
