Description
The Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher, in the Speyside region of Scotland. It was one of the first distilleries to be legally licensed following the Excise Act of 1823. The name "Macallan" derives from the Gaelic "Maghellan," meaning fertile ground associated with St. Fillan. Over the centuries, the distillery has been renowned for its commitment to quality, particularly its use of sherry-seasoned oak casks sourced from Jerez, Spain, which impart distinctive rich flavors and colors to the whisky. In 2018, a new state-of-the-art distillery was opened, blending tradition with modern innovation. Today, owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan remains a symbol of luxury and excellence in single malt Scotch whisky.
 
The Macallan 18 Year Old Sherry Oak 2026 Release, matured in sherry-seasoned European oak casks, delivers a robust, sherry-influenced profile similar to prior annual releases.
Nosing: Rich sherry sweetness with dried fruits like raisins and dates, warm ginger, vanilla, cinnamon, and subtle roasted nuts.
Palate: Full-bodied and smooth, featuring dark chocolate, succulent dried fruits, spiced plums, and gentle oak warmth.
Finish: Long and elegant, lingering with sweet sherry, wood spice, and refined tannins.
