Sarget de Gruaud Larose 2017 - 750ml

Château Gruaud Larose was founded in 1725 in Saint-Julien by Abbé Gruaud and classified as a Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855. The 82-hectare vineyard sits on deep Garonne gravel soils. Owned successively by the Gruaud, Larose, Sarget, Balguerie, Cordier and now Merlaut families since 1997. Sarget de Gruaud Larose, introduced in 1981 and named after the Sarget family, serves as the approachable second wine – fruit-forward yet retaining classic Saint-Julien elegance and structure.

Whisky Introduction:The 2017 Sarget de Gruaud Larose is the second wine, blended from 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29-30% Merlot, 6-7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Vinified in 50% wood and 50% cement with 20-30 days maceration, then aged 14 months in French oak (only 15% new). It delivers concentrated black fruits, floral notes and polished tannins, offering excellent value and ageing potential in a challenging vintage.

Tasting Notes:Aroma: Elegant floral, blackcurrant, plum, exotic spice, cedar and subtle earthy minerality.Palate: Medium to full-bodied, juicy black and red fruits, spice and fine tannins with vibrant acidity.Finish: Medium-long, with lingering black fruit, cigar box and mineral notes.
