Caol Ila was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson near Port Askaig on Islay, one of the island’s largest producers. Famous for its maritime peat-smoked style, the distillery draws water from Loch Nam Ban. Acquired by Diageo, it mainly supplies Johnnie Walker blends, with limited single malt releases. Independent bottler Signatory Vintage, established in 1988, is renowned for selecting exceptional casks. Its Cask Strength Collection presents undiluted, un-chillfiltered whiskies in natural colour.

This Signatory Vintage Cask Strength single cask is matured 18 years in a First-Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt. Bottled in 2026 as Cask #1 with only 657 bottles, it marries Caol Ila’s classic peaty smoke with rich dried fruits and sweetness from the Oloroso cask, delivering an elegant and balanced Islay profile.
