Château Talbot is located in Saint-Julien, Bordeaux. The estate is named after Connétable Talbot, the English military leader who died in the 1453 Battle of Castillon. Acquired by the Cordier family in 1917, it remains owned by the fourth generation of the family. Classified as a Fourth Growth in the 1855 Classification, the single-block vineyard exceeds 100 hectares and is renowned for consistent quality and elegant Left Bank style.
The 2012 vintage is a classic Left Bank blend, aged for about 15-16 months in roughly 50% new French oak barrels. Although 2012 was a moderate vintage, this wine performed strongly with juicy balance and supple tannins. It is approachable now but offers 10-15 years of further aging potential, showing Talbot’s reliable elegance with layers of fruit and spice influenced by new oak.
Tasting NotesNosing: Open and elegant with cassis, blackberry, redcurrant, plum, accompanied by licorice, roasted herbs, cedar, tobacco and mineral notes – refined and attractive.Palate: Medium to full-bodied, juicy and harmonious with sweet black and red fruits, chocolate, spices and minerality; fine supple tannins and fresh balancing acidity.Finish: Medium-long, pure and persistent with lingering black fruit, spices, light oak and mineral aftertaste – graceful and smooth.
